By looking at my Flickr stream and through past posts, I think it’s safe to say that my favorite photos to take are portraits. It’s not that I especially love people – and in fact, there are many who would probably laugh at the mere idea of describing me as such. It’s just something that I naturally gravitated to on here.
However, I’ve always experienced a mix of envy and admiration for those photographers that take fantastic build and landscape photos. It just so happened that I met a new friend earlier this week – Reef Christianson – who takes really nice “non-people” photos, and he invited me to hang with him on his next jaunt. I was super excited because I was going to finally try my hand at doing a different kind of picture.
Well… we know what they say about the best-laid plans. I had every intention of taking photos of the awesome builds, but I had no idea our jaunt would be to Toxian City, which is a dark role-play sim 🙂 It was my first time ever on a role play sim here in SL, and I have to say, the characters completely fascinated me. I felt like a kid in a candy store looking around at this other side of SL – I mean, really, how many places can you see a demon with a sword in front of a church? (and yeah, I totally flubbed taking THAT photo, dang it!)
So, you can guess what I ended up doing… while Reef captured some great build shots, I became a voyeur and snapped a few of the citizens. Another thing I learned – I am soooo spoiled by my LumiPro. As a result, these had to go through more processing than I usually do.
Anywho, my quest to capture the build shot continues… ❤
