Hello good people.  After a particularly tough week, I pronounce that the theme of the day is “Lazy Procrastination.”

Okay, I get that this theme seems a bit oxymoronic due to the fact that often times we procrastinate because we are lazy.  Right now, I have a good four loads of laundry in the corner and a head full of hair that is threatening to revolt into a birdsnest if I don’t wash and tame it this afternoon.  Despite knowing all of this… I just can’t bring myself to do my chores.

As I think about it, this is exactly what I wished for as a kid.  Every Saturday morning, my mom would make me get up and clean.  I had to drag out the canister vacuum (yes, if you’re younger than 35, you’ve probably NEVER seen one of these) and break out the Scott’s Liquid Gold furniture polish with two rags – one to polish and one to shine. As I grumbled about having to get up early on a Saturday morning being deprived of my cartoons, I used to fervently wish from the bottom of my heart that I would grow up and never have to clean my house again.  Well, I did grow up and while I did forever ban canister vacuums (I have an upright :)) and Scott’s Liquid Gold (all about the Pledge baby!), maybe my mom did drill just enough pride in me to not live in the pigsty.  But, as for doing chores today… I guess there’s always tomorrow. 😉
